Short-term exchange student Alex Blades is from the east Midlands, England near Cambridge and presented at the July 28 Rotary Luncheon at Purkey’s Pink Apple.  Alex is sponsored by The Deepings Rotary Club in Lincolnshire.

He has graduated from High school and is passionate about English football. He is not a fan of American football, since he thinks you should use your feet if it is called football. He arrived in the US in July and will return with Connor Helsel to England on Aug 3, ending his 2.5 week short-term exchange.

Alex and Conner went to New York City for 3 days and saw the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and visited Times Square, Grand Central Station and Central Park. He attended his first NY Yankees game and found that it was not as long and boring as cricket games can be.  While in NYC, they went to the 9/11 museum and Alex realized how important it is for Rotary to be trying to achieve peace in the world.
