Bill Kern from the Countryside Conservancy was the guest speaker at the Aug 26 Rotary luncheon at Shadowbrook Inn & Resort.  Bill was a 2000 graduate of the Tunkhannock Area School District. 
 
The Countryside Conservancy started in 1994 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit land trust committed to protecting and connecting greenspace in and near the Tunkhannock Creek watershed for the public benefit, now and for future generations.  They manage almost 600 acres and build trails through Lackawanna State Park.  It also has 30 miles of hiking trails.  It is responsible for the upkeep and extension of the 5.1 miles of the Trolley Trail.
